ExpliStats Real Retail Sales up by 0.1% in November

Without price-adjustment, the Census Department’s November growth is 0.2%. The headline “Real” change, price-deflated by the whole of the CPI All Items index dropped by 0.1%. ExpliStats price-deflation gives a 0.1% growth. Read More

CPI-U Annual inflation up from 1.8% to 2.0%. Used cars and gasoline.

The CPI-U price index rose by 0.3% in November 2019. This, together with November 2018’s low CPI increase dropping out of the year-over-year rate brings the annual inflation rate up to 2.05%.
The difference between the two Novembers lies almost entirely in Used Motor Vehicles, and in Gasoline prices.
