December’s unemployment headline rate was unchanged at 5.0% –  flat since October.  But, as we reported last month, the rounding of the rate to one decimal places hides some detail.

When we look at the unemployment rate to two decimal figures, we see that it has reached a new minimum.  005explistats_qF6DC1AK_Copy_of_AugOct_no_surge

 

And this is on top of a continued jump in both the Participation Rate and the Employment Ratio (see below).  More people are looking for work, and more people found work and those two moves balanced each other out to hardly move the unemployment rate.  A good report.
