Housing Starts nationally dropped to an annualized rate of 1,103 Million units in October (from a rate of 1,161 in September).
Almost all of the drop was due to multi-unit starts in the South and Mid-West. (See chart). Single Family starts in the South also decreased, but all other sectors saw a rise.

Permits rose across the board except for a drop in West apartment permits.

Overall, the updward trend in both Starts and Permits seems to be unbroken.
