From the Census Department’s Retail Trade Report:
The U.S. Census Bureau announced today that advance estimates of U.S. retail and food services sales for November, adjusted for seasonal variation and holiday and trading-day differences, but not for price changes, were $449.3 billion, an increase of 0.7 percent (±0.5%) from the previous month, and 5.1 percent (±0.9%) above November 2013. Total sales for the September through November 2014 period were up 4.7 percent (±0.7%) from the same period a year ago. The September to October 2014 percent change was revised from +0.3 percent (±0.5%)* to +0.5 percent (±0.2%).
Revisions to the prior two month’s reporting included a change of 0.17% for October, and a change of 0.19% for September.

Total sales volume rose by $3,216 billion, with the biggest contributors being:
- Motor Vehicle & Parts Dealers sales rose by $1,547 billion (1.7%).
- Building Materials, Garden Eq. & Supply Dealers sales rose by $397 billion (1.4%).
- Nonstore Retailers sales rose by $393 billion (1.0%).
- Gasoline Stations sales fell by $343 billion (-0.8%).

Revisions to Prior Months
Retail Sales for October were
revised up by $755 billion, changing that month’s reported increase of 0.34% to an increase of 0.51%.
September sales were revised up by $820 billion, changing that month’s reported decrease of 0.26% to a decrease of 0.07%.
