The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ August Payroll Survey reported a seasonally adjusted gain of 173,000 jobs, 140,000 in the private sector. Prior month revisions: July total jobs growth was revised up by 30,000 from a gain of 215,000 to a gain of 245,000 . June growth was revised up by 14,000 from a gain of 231,000 to a gain of 245,000 .
