The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ September Payroll Survey reported a seasonally adjusted gain of 142,000 jobs, 118,000 in the private sector. Prior month revisions: August total jobs growth was revised down by 37,000 from a gain of 173,000 to a gain of 136,000 . July growth was revised down by 22,000 from a gain of 245,000 to a gain of 223,000 .
