The Census Department today released their “Full” Manufacturers’ Shipments, Inventories & Orders Survey, This includes and extends the Advanced Durable Goods Survey published last week

The value of shipments for all goods was up marginally (+0.1%) in September. But in the chart on the left, we see that non-durables are flat.

New Orders for all manufactured goods were down 0.9% in October.  As can be seen from the chart on the left,  non-durable goods have not been growing for getting on for two years.  Durable goods orders have flattened recently, even discernably for the volatile transportation sub-sector (includes aircraft.

This survey contains a wealth of detail, covering unfilled orders, inventories at various stages of processing and for detailed industrial sectors.  If anyone would like to suggest a particular chart or two to examine, we should be able to produce it with a few moments work.  Please submit suggestions below.
