Total spending (public and private) on a seasonally-adjusted basis, dropped by 1.8% to $950.2bn. Residential construction fell by 0.2% to $361.3bn, and Non-Residential fell by 2.8% to $588.8bn.
The drop in Non-Residential spending amounted to $16.8bn, the bulk of which came from drops of $8.8bn in Highways and Street, $3.6bn in Power, and $3.2bn in Educational.
On the Residential side, a drop in Single Family homes was almost compensated by an increase in Multi-Family construction.
Spending on Single-Family homes has now dropped below its January 2014 level, while Multi-Family spending continues its steady increase. See charts below.
