The Bureau of Economic Analysis issued its Second Estimate for 2013 4th Quarter GDP today.
The Second Estimate revised down growth from the first or Advance Estimate, from 3.2% to 2.4% (annualized).
The chart below charts the five most recent releases in terms of their quarterly estimates of GDP growth.
The point stands out that the size of the revisions are sizeable. For the 4th quarter, the 2nd Estimate has decreased the initial estimate of growth by 26%. For the 3rd quarter the relative size of the revision was 27% (upwards).
